Frequently Asked Questions

  • Chiropractors are musculoskeletal (MSK) experts, meaning they provide effective treatments for joint pain, muscle and tendon injuries and peripheral nerve irritations. Also, chiropractors don’t just treat the spine! While Dr Pauline would be more than happy to help with back pain or neck issues, she is also highly qualified to treat extremity injuries like shoulder pain, wrist sprains, knee pain and ankle/foot issues.

Additionally, if you are in a car accident, Dr Pauline can submit to ICBC directly on your behalf.

  • Every patient and every injury is unique, so there is no set number of appointments required. Dr Pauline gives you home rehab and movement exercises to get you feeling better, so you only have to come for appointments when you need them!

Dr Pauline always enjoys seeing and helping her patients, but expects them to try their movement homework, in order to best help themselves!

  • Adjustments are performed to essentially calm the tissues and relieve tension in the area around a joint that may feel irritated. They are a high velocity (fast) and low amplitude (least amount of force possible) technique that can assist in pain relief, but do not move joints into or out of place. The popping sound is the pressure of gases, like oxygen and nitrogen, being released from the fluid in the joint capsule as it stretches during the adjustment.

  • Absolutely not! Some patients find great success with adjustments while others may have conditions like osteoporosis that are a contraindication to spinal manipulation. As a patient you have the final say on what treatment modalities you would like performed. Many of my patients enjoy soft tissue therapy and therapeutic exercise treatments only, and achieve great success!

  • Yes! Chiropractic care is safe and quite beneficial during pregnancy. Due to changes in biomechanics and increased joint laxity, chiropractic treatments can help with rib joint irritations and other lower back/pelvic pains that are common during pregnancy.

  • Yes! Dr Pauline has helped many children overcome pain and injuries, including soccer and hockey players, gymnasts and dancers. She enjoys working with children age two and older.

If you want to decrease pain, get stronger, move better or simply continue to move gracefully with age, Dr Pauline would love to help you first move well, then move often over a lifetime.
